Yoga

Nowadays I think Yoga is very common exercise. I am interesting to share about this in my today posting. According to wiki Yoga refers to traditional physical and mental disciplines originating in India. Outside India, yoga is mostly associated with the practice of asanas (postures) of Hatha Yoga or as a form of exercise. A practitioner of Yoga is called a Yogi (male) or Yogini (female). At swamij stated that there are Traditional Yoga and Modern Yoga.
Traditional view: To the ancients, Yoga is a complete system, of which the postures are a small, though quite useful part. The word "Yoga" referred to the whole, not merely one part, which is the postures, or Asanas. The entire purpose of Yoga is spiritual in nature, according to the ancient sages.
Modern view: In modern times, the relative position of the postures has been elevated, so as to lead people to believe that the word "Yoga" refers to physical postures or Asanas, and that the goal of these is physical fitness. The whole and the part have been reversed, terribly misleading and confusing people about the true nature of authentic Yoga.
Further, there is a question 'Is Yoga a Religion?' - for this question Swami has the answer - Yoga is not a religion and religion is not contained within Yoga. Yoga means union. It is the joining together the aspects of ourselves which were never divided in the first place.
I have been joining Yoga class for the past two weeks, well only once a week actually and so far I have learned that it is all about how to harmonize your mind and body. I've decided to join this Yoga is to feel new experience and take the positive impact by doing this.
